CCWD is seeking a skilled, motivated, and team-oriented Project Senior Engineer working on the Canal Modernization Project in the Engineering Department. This position will be located at our Administrative Office in Concord, CA. The Project Senior Engineer will be responsible for managing implementation of CCWD’s Main Canal Modernization Project, which will replace 22-miles of CCWD’s primary water conveyance facility with a large diameter pipeline; this project in beginning preliminary design and environmental analysis to commence construction as early as 2028.

The Project Senior Engineer may serve as supervisor to a project engineer as the Canal Modernization Project progresses toward final design and implementation depending on project resource needs.

The "Project Employee Position" is full-time and temporary with benefits, for work on the Canal Modernization Project. The position is anticipated to last for a term of 2 to 5 years and possibly longer. Project employees are hired for specific projects of limited duration. What you will typically be responsible for:

  • Managing, directing, and organizing canal activities including management, inspection, and project scheduling.
  • Representing the District to outside agencies and organizations; participating in outside community and professional groups and committees; providing technical assistance as necessary.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the District’s Capital Improvement Program plan and budget.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with employees, management and contractors.
  • Applying the principles of prevention through design to prioritize safety in all designs.
  • Researching and preparing technical and administrative reports.
  • Managing large and complex capital improvement projects through all phases including planning, design, construction and implementation, and close-out.
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to implement projects to ensure the District’s interests are met.
