Project Manager, New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium Job at Hamilton College

The Project Manager position is the primary coordinator of the Consortium’s academic and co-curricular programs and events. The Project Manager role is well-suited for a highly organized, energetic, and innovative professional with knowledge of and experience in higher education and a commitment to the liberal arts, in particular. Examples of programs/events the Project Manager is responsible for organizing: faculty development webinars and workshops, the annual NY6 undergraduate research conference, programs for international students, and online and in-person meetings of academic-related communities of practice. In addition, the Project Manager will partner with the Executive Director to plan and implement programs for the New York Six Mellon Academic Leadership Fellows Program, which will launch in January 2023.

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Engaging academic leaders, faculty, and students across the six campuses in New York Six programs through proactive communication and outreach.
  • Development and execution of project work plans.
  • Organizing and presiding over activities of communities of practice and other New York Six events.
  • Staying current on best practices and external resources for Consortium initiatives.
  • Establishing protocols, maintaining records, and developing materials in support of New York Six programs.
  • Other activities related to Consortium administration as needed.

The Project Manager reports to the New York Six Executive Director, with programmatic direction coming from appropriate Consortium leaders (e.g., academic deans or their designees).

This position is a work from home arrangement with the expectation of regular on site meetings at NY6 campuses. Therefore, candidates in this position must live within reasonable commuting distance to the participating NY6 schools.

Established in 2010 with the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium facilitates collaboration among its member institutions in fulfilling their educational missions and serving the public good. Through the sharing of expertise and resources, the Consortium reduces colleges' individual and collective operating and capital costs while enhancing opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.

The six Consortium member institutions are Colgate University, Hamilton College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, St. Lawrence University, Skidmore College, and Union College. The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium is administered through Hamilton College, and the Project Manager will be an employee of Hamilton College.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of administrative experience in higher education strongly preferred, including experience in project or grant management.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, technical, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and remotely is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Flexibility and good humor.
