Danone North America has an opening for a Project Engineer to support our Portland, Oregon & Eugene/Springfield, Oregon manufacturing locations.
In this role, you will split your time in both plant locations and manage engineering projects at the two factories from concept phase through commissioning, including both packaging and processing related projects.
You will interact with plant teams (Packaging, Processing, Quality, Finance, etc.), Corporate Engineering, Sourcing & Supplier Development, R&D, Danone Engineering Worldwide, and appropriate vendors and will participate in requisition and management of capital authorization requests and is accountable for project spending and providing technical and management expertise on engineering projects as assigned by the Plant Engineering Manager.

Additionally in this role, you will:
- Plan, organize, direct and control the efforts of other technical resources toward the successful completion of projects.
- Control project expenditures, develop and administer schedules and resolve conflicts that may hinder successful project completion.
- Partner with Groupe Danone to learn and understand their role in the development of specifications and global standards.
- Develop equipment specifications, assess equipment proposals from suppliers and make recommendations for enhancements and investments to ensure future facility growth.
- Design work and obtain costs for projects assigned by the Engineering Manager, including determining optimal equipment and layouts for improving or expanding the plant operations (including new product launches and innovations) and making major repairs to systems and buildings.
- Identify and implement projects with the approval of the Engineering Manager, including but not limited to improving plant operations, production efficiencies, maintenance, power plant operations and utility consumption.
- Act as a consultant to the maintenance department and maintenance supervisors on the development and implementation of P.M. programs, lubrication programs, safety programs effective maintenance practices and solving technical problems.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of the necessary resources within the plant (plant management and supervisory personnel through all departments) to ensure the safe, timely and successful completion of projects.
- Establish strong, professional relationships with sources of technology including vendors and suppliers, Danone sister companies, and other sources of applicable technologies.
About You:
- You have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related), required.
- You have 3-5 years related experience within a manufacturing setting, required.
- You have strong project management, financial and analytical skills.
- Prior experience in a CPG Manufacturing environment and packaging and/or process engineering experience is preferred. Prior experience in dairy industry or plant production supervision is also a plus.
- You have basic skills in AutoCAD, MS Project, and advanced MS Office skills (proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
- You have the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, to establish and react to changing priorities
- You have strong "self-management" skills and require minimal daily supervision
- You have experience with TQM, Six Sigma, and Team Building skills, preferred.
- You have experience developing plans within regulatory compliance (e.g. OSHA, FDA), preferred.
