Project Engineer

Cambridge Valley Machining (CVM) provides comprehensive design through manufacturing services for startups, Fortune 500 businesses, and other domestic and global customers. CVM is a proud supplier within the Space and the Defense industries. Due to business growth, we are seeking to fill a Project Engineer position. The Project Engineer will be based out of Cambridge, New York and will serve as a technical lead in the development and continuous improvement of the manufacturing process. Key focus areas include quality, cost, yield, waste, safety, and process reliability. Manages projects through all stages to produce quality products, with on-time deliveries.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful and ethical manner at all times, carry out all job responsibilities in accordance with site safety rules and expectations, actively participate in the innovation and improvement of the site and company.

Essential Job Results:

Provides daily technical direction and troubleshooting support to manufacturing, maximizes machining efficiency and productivity, and reviews production tracking information ultimately making recommendations to management on improvements

Develop and implement process improvements, monitor process capability, and conduct product performance assessments using statistical analysis and process optimization tools and methodologies.

Lead Root Cause Analysis activities to solve technical, quality, or safety concerns.

Improve manufacturing capacity and cost.

Develop and implement production trials to resolve challenges and improve finished product characteristics.

Provides file management of CNC machine data and supports maintenance of drawings and BOM system

Work with operators and programmers to develop, improve and monitor key processes and procedures.

Assist in writing standard work documents, job aids, and operator training programs.

Work cross functionally to assist with the planning, installation, start-up and performance validation of new equipment as well as maintain existing equipment.

Perform/oversee test method validations and/or product testing

Perform a wide variety of Machining tasks and experiments to support the Company’s growth and development goals such as maintain machining equipment and inventory levels for supplies, test product per protocols and test/inspection procedures

Research/recommend, source & purchase machining equipment (from calipers to large test equipment)

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Mechanical preferred, others considered depending on experience

2 years manufacturing/machining experience

Strong leadership skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of manufacturing processes including Lean and Six Sigma
