We are currently looking for a Project Controls Specialist for a high-tech oriented project in Reno, NV. The primary responsibility for this role includes maintaining the project cost system of record and validating all data input entered into that system. In this role, you will be responsible for interface with the lead Finance Analyst, as well as with the project team with one our longstanding clients in the high-tech space.
- Provide preconstruction support during project approval phase, provide historical cost data if requested, and assist in development of annual contractor purchase orders.
- Manage internal project budget / schedule of values within project management software, for monthly financial reporting on multiple New Builds and Retrofit projects on campus.
- Manage external project budget and communications within external project management software including commitment management, change management, document control, etc.
- Assists in managing monthly forecasts and cash flows, understanding of forecast variances, and development of monthly executive reports.
- Manage monthly vendor invoice review process within invoicing software, including project management review, third party auditing services, and communication with Accounts Payable team.
- Be responsible for accurate quarterly accrual reporting for all existing purchase orders (each a “PO”) on campus, including communication with vendors and finance team.
- Facilitate change order routing and review processes within project management software, content analysis, and executive approval as required.
- Review project financial health with management team each month (via dashboards, budget software, schedule comparisons, productivity reports, etc.).
- Assist in managing internal and contractor risk registers including updating and regular evaluation of contingency.
- Oversee financial closeout of internal budgets, vendor purchase orders.
- Work closely with site scheduler to compare financial forecasts and risks are in alignment with schedule updates.
- Aid with programmatic initiatives, training, and alignment opportunities.
- Travel as necessary to sites to assist with project controls functions.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Construction, Finance, Business, Accounting or related field is highly preferred.
- 5+ years' of experience in construction project controls analysis.
- Construction Cost Accounting experience is required.
- Project Controls experience on large capex projects is highly preferred.
- Experience with Power BI, CPM, SAP and MS Teams is preferred.
- Highly proficient with Excel.
- Self-motivated independent contributor with strong communication and analytical skills.
- Problem solver, with a tolerance for ambiguity.
