Fort McMurray Heritage Society is a social profit in Fort McMurray. We have a very busy season coming up for our programs, and we need an assistant.

We are looking for someone to support the Program Director in facilitating programs at Heritage Village and Heritage Shipyard. The Programs Assistant will be energetic, comfortable around children, and be able to take direction well. At Heritage Village we facilitate many programs such as our Open Minds Museum School, Spring Programs, Homeschool Program, No School Friday Programs, and Summer Camps. The ideal candidate will uphold our values that the health and safety of children come first. We prioritize education through hands on learning and are constantly evolving our programs to be better. The Programs Assistant will assist in this process and ideally possess the following characteristics:

• Be comfortable working with children, teachers, parents, and other community members
• Learn the history of Fort McMurray and be comfortable giving tours to groups of all ages
• Be able to work under pressure and troubleshoot at a moments notice
• Be able to supervise and facilitate activities and crafts with children
• Role play historical characters
• Supervise and facilitate summer camps
• Learn all the programs we offer and be able to step in and take control when the Program Director is unavailable
• Be able to communicate effectively
• Be organized and have good time management
• Be able to communicate effectively with teachers and parents
• Able to keep and neat and tidy classroom environment
• Uphold museum values
• Be comfortable dealing with children with learning and/or health disabilities

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Fort McMurray, AB: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
