Summary/Objective

The Program Manager of Corrections assists the Director of Correction in leading the correctional programs and ensuring the program(s) comply with all Volunteers of America, Bureau of Prison (BOP), and Wyoming Department of Corrections (DOC) policies and procedures daily.


Essential Functions

  • Ensures the program complies daily with all VOA, Bureau of Prison (BOP), and Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) Policies and Procedures.

  • Develops and monitor the schedule for the security technician staff.

  • Provides direct supervision to lead security technician, front-line staff, and kitchen staff.

  • Assists in the recruitment and hiring of security technician staff.

  • Assists in the preparation of annual budgets for areas of responsibility.

  • Ensures that the facility complies with fire, safety, and health department standards.

  • Maintains and submits monthly BOP Staff Contact Roster.

  • Processes and submit payroll for front-line staff.

  • Coordinate transportation for new DOC/BOP

  • Monitor all written mail correspondence for the residents.

  • Regularly communicates with Facility Director, Probation and Parole staff, WDOC staff, and Bureau of Prisons.

  • Assist the director with facets of human resource management, including disciplinary action.

  • Assists with resident issues as needed.

  • Prepare and delivers all employment and staff training.

  • Ensures ongoing compliance with VOA policies and procedures, resident handbook, and sponsoring agency requirements.

  • Represent the organization daily.

  • Routinely prepares correspondence, reports, and other documents for staff and administration as requested.

  • Attends meetings and training as needed.

  • Maintain direct oversight of a resident disciplinary process for the state program.

  • Participates in on-call rotation as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stoop as necessary.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel

Little travel is required for this position.


Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science, or a related field

  • Two (2) years of management and/or supervisory experience.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of adult corrections facilities/procedures.

  • Five (5) years of management and/or supervisory experience
