What You'll Do:
Assist Executive Director and CEC Student Assistants in developing, planning and executing CEC strategic entrepreneurship programs. Primary responsibility for the following CEC entrepreneurship programs:
a. Monthly CEC Entrepreneurship Workshops, Hackathons (TBD); including Startup101, Startup Clinic, Lean Startup; registration process, content speakers, venues, catering
b. Hale Sustainability Conference (Jan); registration process, content delivery, student teams, venue, catering, coordination with Sustainability MGT, Career Services
c. Student Innovation Awards (Feb); application process, keynote speaker, scholarships
d. London VentureCrawl (March); registration process, transportation, food, tour venues, content delivery, coordination with UK
e. Big East Pitch Challenge (March); collaboration with Big East, application process, coaching of student, travel to NYC, pitch practice
f. Campus1871 Pitch (April); application process, collaboration with 1871 and other universities, assignment of mentors, participation in final presentations
g. WorldChicago YTILI Program (April ); coordination with WorldChicago, content speakers, venue coordination, catering, transportation
h. The Purpose Pitch (May); application process, keynote speaker, venue, catering, judges, stipend awards, sponsors
i. University Pitch Madness (July); coordination with 10 other schools, venue and catering coordination, student applications, keynote speaker, judges, awards, sponsors
j. Order supplies, catering, and arrange service providers and vendors necessary for all assigned programs and events.
k. Other relevant events as assignedPrimary responsibility for working with DePaul entrepreneurship student groups like CEO and NetImpact. Primary responsibility for coordinating our memberships with 1871, 2112, mHub, ICNC, GCEC, USASBE and other ecosystem partners. Work with students, alumni and community members to connect them with appropriate CEC resources. Support the CEC in relationship-building with entrepreneurs, DePaul alumni and members of the Chicago business community.
Work closely with the Executive Director to support CEC Advisory Board, CEC Mentors and Campus Advisory Team to provide workshop content, communication of programs and expanding relationships and fundraising.
Primary responsibility for marketing of assigned events and programs for the CEC and MGT Department. Provide CEC and MGT social media marketing posts and website content. Work with CEC staff to update salesforce.com as a CRM tool to track all CEC contacts and program/event attendees. Work with other CEC IT platforms including StartUpTree, Qualtrics, Constant Contact, Eventbrite and other systems to track and promote assigned events and programs.
- Primary responsibility to manage 3-4 Student Assistants, work with their class schedule to plan their work in the Center. Coordinate projects and delegate tasks to Student Assistants. Oversee their performance and making sure they support all CEC programs and events.
- Work with the Executive Director on all programs and events. Order catering, CEC supplies and other materials to support programs and workshops. Assist in management of CEC expenses and $300,000 annual budget.
- Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred. Also experience in working in an academic setting and interfacing with students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.
- Ability to lift over 25 pounds in setting up the CEC for events, moving tables, carrying materials. Also able to stand for long periods of time during the day and during events.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Problem-solving skills and able to identify and mitigate potential future challenges
- Ability to work independently as well as with multiple supervisors
- Multi-task while adhering to deadlines
- Ability to maintain professional discretion
- Self-starter, curious, motivated to learn new skills, and able to navigate entrepreneurially within the university system

- Demonstrated experience organizing, planning, and coordinating events large and small, with attention to detail
- Experience working with people of different races and ethnicities
- Interest or experience in innovation and entrepreneurship
- Experience facilitating the human-centered design process is a plus
- Ability to create and deliver content to students, faculty, and members of the Chicago community.
- This position will involve working after hours in hosting events. Some local travel and domestic travel to conferences is required.
