Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to coordinate, manage and support research conducted within the Brown University Pandemic Center. The Program Manager will join a dynamic and growing team to execute projects with the aim of ensuring that the world better understands catastrophic threats, their far-reaching casualties, and develops the tools, policies, and practices to mitigate and prevent their impact.
Reporting to and working closely with the Associate Director of Research and Program Management, the Program Manager takes the lead on operationalizing and executing diverse projects such as university-wide collaborations, policy and research reports, seminar series, handbooks, and research and evaluation initiatives. The Program Manager will work with a diverse team and engage stakeholders across Brown university and beyond, in academia, industry and government. The Program Manager may also assist with other aspects of the project including data analysis, scientific writing, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. The role may involve the supervision of student employees and volunteers.
Job Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s Degree with a minimum of 3 (three) to 5 (five) years of experience in multidisciplinary research management. Coursework or experience in related fields can substitute for educational level.
- Project management training/certification a plus
Experience:
- Proven excellence of organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication
- Experience with qualitative interviewing is preferred but not required; willingness to be trained for these procedures
- Previous experience with complex meeting scheduling and planning preferred
- Previous experience working with internal and external, high-level stakeholders
- Experience working in a public health or public health academic setting preferred with understanding of research management processes (with a preference for global pandemic research)
- Experience working across multi-cultural global teams strongly preferred
- Experience working with IRB applications and grant/IRB reporting preferred

- Ability to sustain a high level of productivity and work independently while being part of a collaborative team
- Proficiency with Google Drive, MS Office, Google. Experience with Canva, Illustrator, and Mailchimp is a plus
- Sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive matters
- Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
- Efficient time management skills
- Knowledge of research study design and the publication process preferred
- Flexibility in scheduling – some early morning, evenings and weekends required
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 5/1/2024, which may be extended based upon available funding.
