Program Director and Instructor of Surgical Technology
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required
· Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
· Associates degree in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program
Experience Required
· 5 years relevant experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years
Preferred Qualifications
Education Preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in a Health Sciences or Related field of study from a regionally accredited college/university
Experience Preferred
· Post-secondary teaching and/or industry training experience in Surgical Technology curriculum in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
· Management experience, including employee supervision
Position Description
The director will provide the vision and leadership required to support and enhance the mission of the Surgical Technology Program. Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, continuous review of curriculum, planning, budget administration, general effectiveness of the program, accreditation, and providing supervision and mentoring to part time faculty. Instructional responsibilities require delivering broad-based knowledge and skills of the surgical technology field of study and surgical technology in the health industry. The Program Director is a member of the full-time faculty and reports to the Dean of Transfer and Pre-Professional Programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position serves as Program Director and Instructor. It provides leadership and instruction for the Surgical Technology Program.
The Program Director is responsible for providing leadership to help ensure the quality and success of the program and works with faculty to promote continuous improvement in the quality of instruction within the Surgical Technology program. The Program Director will coordinate, collect, and submit input from program faculty on:
· Teach courses in the Surgical Technology Program.
· Develop clinical sites and oversee clinical rotations.
· Course offering rotations and scheduling recommendations for submission to the Department Chair and Dean.
· Instructional program planning and curriculum review, to include problem response reporting.
· Surgical Technology program budgetary requests.
· Program advisory committee meetings and documentation.
· Accreditation and compliance documentation and administrative reports as requested.
· Hiring on-boarding and orientation of faculty for the Surgical Technology program.
· Textbook and instructional material selection.
· Student Learning Outcome documentation of assessment, data, and use of results.
· Program marketing and recruitments efforts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
