Job Detail:

Mission

To maintain the Port of Burlington Welcome Center as a premier Welcome Center in the State of Iowa as well as leading visitor programming of the Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate, and secure all activities at the Welcome Center including the management of all volunteers and staff (i.e., recruiting, scheduling, directing, training, and payroll).
  • Coordinate and update all displays in the Welcome Center.
  • Responsible for informing the public and media of events occurring at the Welcome Center.
  • Speak to groups/organizations about Welcome Center activities.
  • Responsible for sending updated reports to the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) office that pertain to the Welcome Center.
  • Manage the process of promoting Greater Burlington events via email distribution, social media, and the Partnership website community calendar.
  • Serve as staff support for Port of Burlington Ambassadors and Convention & Visitors Bureau Tour Guides.
  • Organize and coordinate volunteers and tours for riverboat dockings as well as group tours.
  • Attend all riverboat dockings.
  • In conjunction with CVB Executive Director, develop and maintain relationships with riverboat cruise operators.
  • Develop and implement new group tour itineraries for the group tour market.
  • Manage retail sales and merchandising at the Welcome Center.
  • Compile monthly retail reports and check requests for Greater Burlington Partnership Finance Manager.
  • Regular maintenance and cleaning of the Welcome Center.
  • Attend tradeshows and meetings when requested.
  • Delivery of Burlington/West Burlington Area Community Guides to local businesses.
  • Volunteer on tourism industry, community, and Partnership related projects.
  • Assist with additional Greater Burlington Partnership projects when requested.
