YMCA International Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston’s significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency.

Duties /Responsibilities
The Program Assistant will be responsible for the following, but not limited to, duties:

• Under direction of Logistics Coordinator and through good communication with Operations Supervisor:

Secure applicable donations for new R&P clients upon arrival and for MG families as identified

Request volunteers as needed for airport pickups, apartment setup, etc.

• Order furniture and communicate with furniture vendors for timely delivery
• Purchase first night food/supplies, sort, and record the distribution in client files

• Visually confirm apartments are ready upon clients arrival

• Complete List of Goods for all R&P clients, and provide to case managers within one month of arrival
• Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
• Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
• Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets
• Performs other duties as assigned including food pantry distribution.

Outcomes

• All new arrivals in R&P and MG (specifically Ukrainians) receive furniture before arriving to the US
• All new arrivals in R&P and MG (specifically Ukrainians) have electric setup upon arrival to the US
• List of Goods are provided to case managers less than 1 month after arriving

• Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.
• Experience with refugee populations a plus
• College diploma or equivalent experience
• Able to lift 75+ pounds required
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, automobile liability insurance, and a vehicle.
