Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible to oversee and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production of unsaturated polyester resins. The Supervisor is required to work a 7-day rotating shift. The Position is accountable for the safety, environmental, quality, production and housekeeping of the shift while optimizing plant efficiency in accordance with corporate and local regulatory requirements. This includes investigating and communicating deviations and near misses. Additional responsibilities include tracking, review and analyzing production and quality control data to determine causes of anomalies and recommended improvements. The Supervisor will manage employees with regard to personnel issues in accordance with Company policies and the Union Labor Agreement as well as escalate and communicate issues with local Plant Management when appropriate and necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor employee performance to ensure that the company standard operating procedures are followed with regard to safety, environmental, production, quality, housekeeping and training while optimizing production efficiency. Provide transfer of information between shifts through toolbox meetings and supervisory exchange at shift turnover. 35%
Analyze and resolve process, production, safety/environmental and quality problems as they arise. These Issues will be reported and investigated to identify causes and corrective actions. 20%
Compile, review and analyze production related data to recommend improvement plans and ensure production goals are met. 15%
Communicate with other departments (safety, maintenance, scheduling, finance etc.) to ensure production needs are met including: training, supplies, equipment etc. 10%
Initiate, recommend, and follow-up on personnel issues in accordance with company policy and the union labor agreement. Ensure employees attend and complete all scheduled testing and training. 10%
Maintain the shift’s safety, security and environmental performance according to corporate and regulatory requirements.
Conduct safety talks and incident reviews to maintain production awareness. Responsible for overseeing the plant facility, employees and contractors during production outside of normal office hours. 5%
Inspect and ensure work areas meet the Plant’s housekeeping expectations. 5%
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to write, read and interpret written procedures, policies, and instructions. Ability to transfer knowledge in both verbal and written form. Demonstrate proficient mathematical, verbal and written communication skills. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (including EXCEL and WORD). SAP experience is a plus. Must possess and demonstrate strong leadership, analytical and supervisory skills.
Physical requirements: Must be able to work in outside environment, climb stairs, wear a full-face respirator, and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree and chemical manufacturing experience preferred. Minimum requirements include Associates Degree or a minimum of 10 years manufacturing with supervisory experience. Candidate must exhibit strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
