SUMMARY

In conjunction with the Regional Demand Planner, the Material Planning Supervisor is responsible for developing the Master Production Plan, maximizing efficiency of operations and satisfying customer demand with minimal inventory. This role is accountable for providing the plant with a daily, weekly, and monthly production plan, consistent plant capacity and sales forecast. This role must collaborate daily with various stakeholders, including operations, sales, warehousing, transportation, customer service, etc. to ensure the achievement of business objectives.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure a safety focus in all processes and builds a culture where safety is the priority
  • Conducts and documents hazard identifications, safe behaviors, Layered Process Audits (LPA’s), etc.
  • Acts as a positive spokesperson and helps lead plant-wide changes.
  • Continuously works to manage inventory levels to improve plant cash flow

Planning Operations

  • Reviews sales forecast on an ongoing basis and suggests modifications consistent with knowledge of current or historical demand.
  • Assists with creating master operations plan for designated products. Balances production capacity, sales forecast, and new business opportunities to ensure manufacturing and working capital goals are met.
  • Helps organize and lead monthly Sales and Operations Planning meetings that engage attendees and promote collaboration.

Executing Operations

  • Ensures timely and accurate distribution of production schedules to plant operations that results in meeting or exceeding order fulfillment expectations.
  • Utilizes SAP MRP to manage the production schedule and enable order fulfillment.
  • Maintains MRP master data fields such as time fences, availability checks, MRP rules, safety stocks, and all required fields that drive MRP in SAP.
  • Performs supply & demand analysis on a regular basis, highlighting areas of concern and developing action plans to address them.
  • Acts as a liaison between demand planning and the plant.
  • Acts as a liaison between 3PL Warehouse, Transportation, and plant team
  • Oversees third party logistics operations that includes shuttle management, outbound delivery, finished goods cycle counts, and forklift management.
  • Ensure all third-party logistics partners adhere to Owens Corning Safety Policies, Procedures, and Standards.
  • Makes delivery commitments on products based on production capacity, fulfillment priorities, and planned production mix.
  • Develops inventory targets and manages production to achieve targeted inventory levels on both a cost and unit basis.
  • Coordinates and leverages internal plant stakeholders (production, sourcing, process engineering, maintenance, and warehouse) and external stakeholders (customer service, supply chain, warehousing, transportation, sales) to ensure there is a balance between meeting customer needs and ensuring efficient production with minimal inventory and Slow-Moving Obsolete Inventory (SMOI).
  • Supports daily operations meetings to review service levels, performance against schedule, inventory strategy, supply plan to meet demand, and resource implications.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and leads actions to deliver improved processes and results.
  • Identifies training and development needs of employees and works with others to meet those needs with respect to production planning or warehouse processes
  • Leads by example to increase enrollment and engagement in production planning and warehouse, initiatives, and requirements
  • Manages Available to Promise (ATP) inventory levels in SAP to drive order fulfillment dates, adjusting as needed with unforeseen supply chain issues or changing customer needs.
  • Confers with plant personnel, vendors, or customers to coordinate production or shipping activities to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.

Leading Across the Plant

  • Engages with functions across the plant of minimize waste and maximize productivity.
  • Provides SAP support to the plant as needed.
  • Supports, contributes, and leads Total Production Maintenance (TPM) initiatives, including the Office Excellence (OE) Pillar.
  • Owns talent management and development for direct reports


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, business or related field with 1 -3 years of experience or 3- 5 years related experience.
  • Prefer Production planning and inventory management.
  • Prefer experience using SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
    • SAP Reporting Tools – Business Intelligence, Power Business Intelligence.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures, including planning, demand management, and inventory replenishment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Very high-level attention to detail

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to safeguard self with proper PPE for the specific task

  • Hand/Eye Coordination– continuously
  • Walk, sit, stand for duration of shift with regular breaks
  • Lift/carry/move up to 25 lbs. independently and heavier weights with assistance.
  • Climb stairs, steps, and ladders
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Able to operate computers & computerized equipment for quality, safety and compliance testing and training.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers face to face, by telephone, and electronic communications.
  • Possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment, operate a computer, and other standard office equipment.
  • Vision adequate to manipulate equipment controls, complete paperwork, utilize computers, and have depth perception.
