Job Summary

The Maintenance Lead / EHS Assistant is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment, as well as managing the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program to ensure regulatory compliance. This role involves coordinating the work of employees and sub-contractors, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining records of inspections and preventative maintenance duties. Additionally, the Maintenance Lead / EHS Assistant is responsible for conducting safety training for new hires and leading annual EHS refresher training.

Position Scope

• Prioritizing work with the Plant Manager and/or Corporate EHS Manager
• Directing workers regarding jobs to perform, work rate, quality of work, and overtime
• Maintaining records of all inspections, reports, and preventative maintenance duties
• Ensuring workers are following all safety rules, company policies, and proper maintenance procedures
• Performing training of new workers in proper maintenance, repair, and installation techniques and procedures
• Selecting and overseeing sub-contractors to perform various projects or services
• Developing and overseeing a preventive maintenance schedule for appropriate machinery and equipment
• Keeping track of inventory levels of chemicals and supplies for production and orders when needed
• Responsible for housekeeping and organization in assigned areas
• Responsible for compliance to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
• Investigating near misses and accidents and filling out appropriate reports and distributing them to appropriate personnel
• Responsible for ensuring safety standards for cranes, straps, fork lifts, fire extinguishers, flammable cabinets, and the location of hazardous supplies
• Demonstrating personal support of and following all company policies, guidelines, safety activities, and procedures
• Performing any other jobs as needed or requested

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance or hard chrome plating. Strong communication, project and time management skills, and the ability to work in a team environment are necessary. A degree in industrial maintenance or electrical engineering is preferred. The candidate must also have experience in PLC troubleshooting, creating preventive maintenance plans, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulics.
