In the Detroit Powertrain Test Center we are driving the powertrain validation for our global Daimler Truck brand including conventional diesel and alternative powertrain components. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, setting up and executing component testing as well as resolving problems encountered during testing. This position involves applying technical expertise to powertrain component test definition, set-up and commissioning, instrumentation, data quality monitoring and issues resolution as required to support functional component validation objectives. We are looking for a person who is solution orientated and has excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. In addition, has the ability to accomplish tasks with the highest standards of quality and ethics. Position offers a starting salary range of $74,500- $95,000
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

Qualifikationen
What you Drive at DTNA
- Plans and directs component testing of internal combustion , alternative powertrain s and drivetrain components to ensure conformance with technical specifications and supplied requirements.
- Exercises technical direction over assigned technicians & f ollows union contractual agreements.
- C ontinuously monitor and resolve issues during test execution as required. Includes completion of all e ngineering t est instructions and necessary reports as provided by the engineering product team .
- Reviews engineering work requests to ensure testing is feasible.
- Experienced with closed loop servo-hydraulics, pneumatics, test fixture design and fabrication.
- Experience in high voltage systems, understanding of electronics and electrical wiring, PLC / software programing, various transducer applications and signal conditioners.
- Coordinates engineering laboratory support group activities, such as: equipment repair, maintenance, calibrations.
- Researches, evaluates and recommends new investments in technology, equipment, systems, or other assets that will enhance the laboratory’s performance
- Interface with product engineering as required to establish test requirements. This includes set-up requirements, test cycle, data logging requirements and test duration.
- Perform post-test data capture and oversee tear down and layout at conclusion of tests. Tasks include preparing and verifying final customer report, participating in tear-down parts review, and final parts disposition packaging, shipping and logistics.
- Develop operating procedures to ensure that experiments and analyses are conducted within budgets and according to established scientific standards
- Support meeting or exceeding the test center’s utilization and run time efficiency targets for the Components Test area.
- Identify and drive process and efficiency improvement strategies.
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited University)
- 0-3 years of relevant experience required
- Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems
- Ability to manage multiple projects and inform management of any barriers
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- High level of analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to work with and get work done effectively through others
- Strong PC skills including MS Office and database tools
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (ABET Accredited University)
- 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred
- General knowledge of internal combustion and electric mobility powertrain electronics and systems
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude to be able to work across various engineering disciplines where electromechanical systems integration is required
- Knowledge of automotive industry test technologies and capabilities
- Experience interpreting bills of material and compatibility coding
