Our Product Integrity Specialist is responsible for drafting, implementing and overseeing sites bottling, cellar and warehouse pre-requisite programs; ensures sites are compliant with federal, state and local regulations, and industry standards (GFSI). Oversees and supports site process water quality programs, including water re-use, recycling and reclaim projects. In addition to the above functions, responsible for executing directed research activities related to process improvements; works cross-functionally with internal partners, and others within the scientific and wine/ spirits community.


What You'll Do:


  • Provides technical expertise to operations personnel and management ensuring they are knowledgeable in requirements to maintain food safety and pre-requisite programs.
  • Ensures integrity of finished goods by establishing compliance to Gallo processes and procedures.
  • Participates on cross-functional teams providing advice to the group on quality assurance, pre-requisite programs and food safety matters.
  • Provides input and makes recommendations regarding HACCP programs.
  • Facilitates the implementation of food safety and quality management systems that comply with 21 CFR part 110 and part 111.
  • Guides the development and implementation of pre-requisite programs required to comply with the FSSC 22000 and IFS certification strategies.
  • Monitors product purity and integrity by means of audits, inspections and laboratory analyses.
  • Partners with internal and external customers to conduct Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA) events and ensures corrective actions are adequate and implemented.
  • Maintains corporate documentation and systems related to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) for Modesto sites and related regulatory requirements pertaining to Pre-requisite Programs (PRP).
  • Organizes and facilitates site training and risk analysis in the areas of general food safety - including plant sanitation, pest control, water systems and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Executes directed research activities related to process improvements.
  • Provides SME support for engineering and maintenance activities ensuring compliance with company and industry sanitary design standards. Writes detailed and concise policies, procedures, work instructions, and other technical documents, including email communications.
  • Develops DOE’s and execute projects to broaden organizational learning in the areas of allergens, heavy metals and pesticides.
  • Conducts research and present significant findings to key stakeholders and senior management.
  • Understands Prop 65 issues and how they may impact winery or facility operations.
  • Facilitates the implementation of food safety and quality management systems that comply with 21 CFR part 117 and part 111.
  • Provides oversight of sites pest control program.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable compliance, quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

What You Will Need:


  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of production/operations food/beverage sanitation, engineering, product development or quality assurance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master’s degree plus 3 years of production/operations, food/beverage sanitation, engineering, product development or quality assurance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility:; OR 9 years of production/operations, food/beverage sanitation, engineering, product development or quality assurance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to lift and move equipment or product that can weigh up to 50 pounds
  • High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart:


  • Master’s degree plus 5 years of production/operations, food/beverage sanitation, engineering, product development or quality assurance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a Natural Science or biological or chemical engineering discipline plus 8 years of food/beverage sanitation, engineering, product development or quality assurance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of microbiological and sanitary design principles.
  • Knowledge of quality and food safety systems including HACCP, FSSC 22000, IFS, ISO 14001, GFSI, and SPC.
  • Experience with sanitation and GMP’s in a food and beverage manufacturing environment
  • Experience in or knowledge of sanitation, GMP’s and other PRP’s in a food and beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and six sigma principles.
  • Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Experience writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Experience presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Compensation:


  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $78,300-$130,600.
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
