Role Overview:
The Research Project Manager works closely with other members within the Data Analytics and Product Validation teams. The specialist will be is responsible for project planning, data cleaning, statistical analysis, economic analysis, data summary and report generation. This position will be based out of Southern Iowa.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and provide regular feedback and updates to research committee.
  • Design, write and implement experimental protocols for gilt development, reproduction, wean – finish and carcass evaluation trials that incorporate new digital technologies
  • Ability to be on farm daily to ensure protocol adaption, data collection and consolidation of data from multiple sources
  • Participate in regular PIC Product Validation and Data analytic projects, meetings and team events.
  • Help customers realize the genetic potential of PIC products.
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in Animal or Meat Science, or related field
  • Experience conducting large animal research trials with multiple flows of data
  • Experience in data entry, data cleaning and summary
  • Basic understanding of modern applied pig production practices and carcass and meat quality evaluations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required
  • Applied statistics background, including experimental design and analyzing experimental data using mixed linear models, analysis of covariance, linear and multiple regressions preferred but not required
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaborate across teams and functional areas
  • Ability to work in and maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts and fast-paced environment
  • Work requires continual attention to detail and ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to travel approximately 40%
