Product Designer Job at Jo-Ann Stores, LLC
SUMMARY
The Product Designer is responsible for the category level illustrations, graphic design, and product development for product assortments developed for JOANN Stores from theme conceptualization to the execution of technical product specifications. The Product Designer is proficient in a wide variety of techniques, materials, and art styles. Skill set requires a strong drafting, product design, and typographic skills to produce original seasonal and everyday exclusive prints, patterns, and designs for JOANN Stores. The Product Designers support all merchandising areas requiring internal design development at JOANN.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Curate shop specific trend and present to cross functional partners and vendor base
- Create and procure art assets for creation of shop specific style guides
- Design spec art using tech packs to distribute to vendor
- Picture Park management (upload, archive and manage assets)
- Asset development and presentation to merchant team
- Server maintenance (organize current files and delete old files)
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Potential Domestic and International travel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to successfully execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong creative ability/vision in trend and color
- Ability to complete daily work with standard supervision
- Openness to receive feedback on work and make necessary adjustments to work as needed
- Proficient in a Macintosh environment
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop)
- Strong typographical design skills
- Basic understanding of Fabric, Seasonal Décor, Crafting Industry and related product categories
- Ability to research, brainstorm and concept product ideas
- Strong visual, oral, and written communication skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Minimum: Degree in Graphic/Illustration Design, Fine Arts, or Industrial Design
Experience Minimum: 2& years of experience in product design or graphic design or related creative role
Experience Preferred: Experience applying own work to a product
