The Product Design Engineer is responsible for the design and technical support of electrical connectors and cable assemblies for extremely harsh environments. The Engineer designs and executes engineering solutions for customer applications and works closely with manufacturing, quality, and sales personnel. This position also provides engineering support to existing product lines, including product improvement and cost reduction programs.

Position Summary

ITT, Inc. is hiring an Electro-Mechanical Product Design Engineer with +mid-level development experience in the connector industry to join the ITT Cannon Connectors North America team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for New Product Development (NPI)
  • Directs and coordinates all activities necessary to complete assigned engineering projects
  • Works with draftsperson and document control specialists to design and execute engineering projects including but not limited to the production of necessary tooling and manufacturing documentation
  • Works with Sales and Product Management to define requirements and deliverables based on customer demands
  • Ensures that technical assistance and information are available for Sales and Customer Service departments
  • Provides technical point of contact for customer inquiries
  • Ability to travel to customer location both domestically and internationally to provide engineering support periodically throughout the year will be occasionally required

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering required (Mechanical/Systems discipline preferred)
  • Highly experienced in 3D modeling and design (Preferably PTC Creo Products)
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) review, preparation, and presentation to address customer design, engineering, and manufacturing requirements
  • Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes to include molding, machining, plating, and product assembly
  • Product development from market definition through production and release
  • At least 3-5 years mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal communication and teaming skills
  • Experience with VBPD (Value Based Product Development) Processes
  • Valid and current passport required
