Heart Havens seeks a caring PRN Direct Support Professional to work at our Richmond area homes in Eastern Henrico and Ashland who embrace our mission of empowerment and share our values of accountability, integrity, respect, and empathy.

Must be available to work Overnights, weekends, and evenings. This position does not have a set schedule and the schedule will change based on staffing needs so flexibility is necessary. This position involves cross training and working as needed in our Richmond area homes.

As a PRN DSP, you'll empower adults with a developmental disability to live full, vibrant, and happy lives. While you'll provide support for everyday activities, such as meal preparation, you'll also support people as they plan for bigger events, such as trips. You'll support people as they discover what they're passionate about and pursue their dreams. One thing's for sure: every day with Heart Havens is different!

Qualifications for a Direct Support Professional:

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Knowledge of basic human physical and psychological needs
• Knowledge and passionate use of person-centered approach
• Knowledge of health and safety precautions
• Demonstrated leadership ability, emotional maturity and patience
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient typing and computer skills
• Demonstrated flexibility and reliability
• Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Required training: Therapeutic Options, 1st Aid/CPR/AED, 32 hour Medical Administration (paid training provided)

Qualifications and Expectations:

• Valid Virginia driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

• May require driving up to 8 hours
• May require frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching and walking
• May require standing up for up to 8 hours
• May require lifting at times, up to 25 pounds
