Principal Scientist, Ruminant Nutrition

Position Summary:
The Animal Nutrition Science and Technology group of ADM is seeking a principal scientist in the field of ruminant nutrition research. This position will be responsible for leading the development and execution of ADM’s research projects for ruminant nutrition. The candidate will occupy a key role within the team and will be responsible for leading development of innovative, science-based products to differentiate ADM in the market by 1) managing the ruminant research pipeline leveraging on ADM capabilities to lead a unique research program for ruminant applications, 2) leading the exploration of new concepts, ideas and technologies meeting customer needs, 3) managing and executing the research pipeline according to the global ruminant research strategy. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of feed ingredients, additives, and solution technologies and how they affect rumen physiology, metabolism, immune status, and overall wellness of ruminants. The role will report to the Director of Animal Nutrition Research, North America based in Decatur, IL.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a robust research program from concept to market
- Coordinate project priorities with commercial and research leadership
- Provide solutions for customer needs
- Make recommendations to management concerning research investments and infrastructure
- Develop relationships with academic, industry, and government funding agencies
- Promote ADM Animal Nutrition through peer-reviewed scientific papers and presentations.
- Prepare invention disclosures and support pursuit of intellectual property
- Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition, Ruminant Nutrition, Animal Sciences, or related field
- 5-10 years+ ruminant industry experience
- Demonstrated ability to design, coordinate and execute research programs
- Established experience leading project teams that transform technical knowhow to customer value
- Willingness to work in the laboratory, in the field, and with biological materials as needed
- Participate with and influence teams to drive alignment and successful delivery of goals
- Proven proficiency in written and verbal communication
- Ability to communicate to diverse audiences including technical and non-technical partners
- Position is based in Decatur, IL/Mendon, IL, USA.
