PRESS AND BINDERY OPERATOR:
JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of Position: The Press operator and Bindery worker is responsible for completing all required Press finishing services for press and copier work in compliance with job specifications and quality standards. This person must be able to work efficiently under job deadlines and required scheduled workloads to meet customer time requirements. In addition, he or she will perform daily and weekly maintenance on all Press and bindery equipment to ensure optimum output. This person is a vital part of the overall customer service provided and will work closely with other team members.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED with experience or vocational/technical certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and able to pay close attention to details.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality and attention to work stations.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and able to stand and work on your feet entire shift.
  • MS excel and Office products with proficiency in Excel is a plus.
  • Any Press and or Finishing experience is a plus.
  • Meet or exceed minimum test results as specified by hiring manager.
Primary Responsibilities: A. Operation and Maintenance of Equipment:
1. Offset printing equipment (4 color), Quick Master Press (2-color), Jet Press (2-color) and Letterpress.
2. Maintain, trouble shoot and repair equipment when necessary.
3. Operate Cutters with proficiency.
4. Operate Folders with proficiency.
5. Operate Booklet maker, Drill, Stapler, folders, and other bindery equipment.
6. Comply with all OSHA safety requirements.
7. Clean and maintain equipment following daily, weekly schedules.

B. Hand Work: (when needed)
1. Hand assemble (collate) pages in order.
2. Hand fold pages to specifications.
3. Stack and glue padding jobs.
4. Insert pages.
5. Punch and Spiral bind books.
C. Packaging: (when needed)
1. Monitor quality on all jobs being packaged.
2. Shrink-wrap/box jobs for customer pickup or delivery.
3. Utilize job stuffers.
D. Bindery Supply Inventory: (when needed)
1. Daily checklist of equipment supplies.
2. Daily checklist of stock items needed.
3. Purchase items daily.

E. End of Day Procedures:
1. Keep working areas clean and organized.
2. Dispose of materials in compliance with EPA standards.
3. Schedule next day’s work.
4. Daily recording of production and spoilage
5. Production Reporting

F. General:
1. Maintain clean and organized Press and bindery production area.
2. Participate in daily production meetings (when needed).
3. Abide by center policies/procedures as outlined by management.
