TITLE: Prep Cook / Server
REPORTS TO: Kitchen Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time
Position Summary:
Assists in the preparation of meals by chopping vegetables and putting together entrees. In addition to food preparation duties, a prep person may also be responsible for completing a large number of smaller tasks. Such tasks could include ensuring that leftover food is stored properly and assisting where needed.
Essential Functions:
- Follow prep list created by Kitchen Manager
- Label and stock all ingredients so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Prepare cooking ingredients to be used in entrees and sauces, including washing and chopping produce, slicing meat, measuring seasonings, and other food handling, etc.
- Undertake basic cooking duties
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines and safety rules.
- In accordance with the National School Lunch Program, complete professional development training through the Archdiocese of Baltimore Child Nutrition program.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment
- One or more years’ experience in high volume food production, restaurant, or catering

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
