We’re growing rapidly and we’re seeking motivated, customer oriented, passionate coworkers to join us. We’re currently seeking a Precertification Specialist Lead at our Overland Park, KS office.
In addition to the Precertification Coordinator responsibilities, the lead will support the leadership team with assigned clerical tasks and maintain a supportive role developing training materials, and training. Accurately complete all surgical orders based on allocated time and potential conflicts. Responsible for assisting with paperwork distribution including preop/postop instruction, ABNs, and non-coverage forms. Verify the accuracy of surgical orders and submitting to the facility. Handles the verification of insurance coverage including eligibility, benefits, authorization submissions/determinations, and appeals. Responsible for communicating with patients, physicians, and facilities authorization information for procedure. Acts as a liaison between the clinical team and patients, facilities, and insurance companies, You will also perform a variety of tasks in support of daily operations, including, but not limited to:
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
- Support the Precert Leadership team with tasks
- Create training materials for the department
- Assist department with questions as another contact
- Complete orders to verify coding accuracy and other pertinent fields.
- Accurately schedules all surgical procedures, based on allocated time and potential conflicts. Confirm surgery is scheduled on the physician's schedule.
- Follows up with referrals and outbound orders to confirm scheduled and received.
- Acquires information on procedures scheduled and communicates this information on orders provided to facility or directly to facility.
- Contact the facilities for weekly case confirmations Adjust time accordingly on physician schedule and confirm authorization has been complete.
- Assists in preparation of distribution of clinical paperwork for upcoming procedures including preop/postop instructions, facility pamphlets, ABNs, and non-certified coverage forms.
- Answers telephones, route calls, takes messages and provides general information.
- Confirms insurance card matches insurance data entry and the surgical facility is in network with the plan.
- Perform insurance eligibility verification and benefit checks with documentation to reflect policy is effective, procedure is covered, and what the professional benefits are.
- Performs pre-certification inquiries and process authorizations for all patients and notifies them of authorization and answers benefits questions.
- Informs physician team of denials with reasonings and provides the options provided by insurance companies.

- Initiates corrective action as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of administrative information.
- Help coordinate estimate requests when requested by the patient.
- Maintain and organize clinic spreadsheets to prioritize orders and perform daily checks to ensure orders are accounted for.
- Assist in medical policy research and simplify criteria research for clinical teams.
- Copy, file, and/or scan and save materials as requested.
- Documents concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and Center related business.
- Regular, physical attendance on a predictable basis is essential to the performance of this job.
- Assists in both day-to-day and special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Follows established company policy and procedures.
- Maintains knowledge of and comply with established policies and procedures.
- Participates in department and clinic meetings as well as professional development activities.
- Understands HIPAA regulations and maintains the strictest confidentiality at all times. Has read and understands the company’s HIPAA Privacy Policy.
- Complies with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist Policies and Procedures and Ascentist Employee Handbook.
- Works within a team to perform this role, cross train, support other team members in their task.

Qualified candidates will possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of medical records/health information experience plus proven communication skills with the ability to convey written and verbal information accurately and effectively
Other key qualifications include:
- Demonstrates effective listening skills, taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and refraining from interrupting until appropriate
- Ability to compose, type and assemble information in proper business form, including the ability to type at least 40 words per minute
- Proven ability to work concurrently on multiple projects with varying priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Desirable Qualifications include two years of experience and/or training in a similar role, knowledge of medical terminology and/or the ability to speak and understand other languages.
