Cimarron is seeking experienced Power Systems Engineers to provide support to the NASA Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER) Program at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
Key Duties:

• Perform electrical engineering design, including schematics, connection diagrams, load lists, etc.
• Interpret and apply codes, standards, and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions, and system descriptions related to design tasks.
• Conduct extensive document and design checking to complete a full suite of electrical engineering deliverables.
• Collaborate with design engineers and program manager on design of solar arrays and batteries.
• Ensure electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Cimarron employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
• Strong knowledge and experience applying NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and electrical equipment layouts.
• Ability to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations.
• Experience with ETAP and other industry-wide electrical systems design tools, such as CAD 2D, and electronic Cable Management System.
• Must be able to effectively communicate and work well with others and within a team.
• Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 3 or more years of related design experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 1 or more years of related design experience.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Experience with space electrical power systems.
• Develops and documents moderately complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
• Designs hardware, software, and interface specifications.
• Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
• Assists in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
• Solves problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
• Research’s specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
