Power Systems Engineer Job at Cimarron Software
Cimarron is seeking experienced Power Systems Engineers to provide support to the NASA Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER) Program at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
Key Duties:
- Perform electrical engineering design, including schematics, connection diagrams, load lists, etc.
- Interpret and apply codes, standards, and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions, and system descriptions related to design tasks.
- Conduct extensive document and design checking to complete a full suite of electrical engineering deliverables.
- Collaborate with design engineers and program manager on design of solar arrays and batteries.
- Ensure electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility requirements, only U.S. Citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Cimarron employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
- Strong knowledge and experience applying NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and electrical equipment layouts.
- Ability to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations.
- Experience with ETAP and other industry-wide electrical systems design tools, such as CAD 2D, and electronic Cable Management System.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and work well with others and within a team.
- Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 3 or more years of related design experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 1 or more years of related design experience.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Experience with space electrical power systems.
- Develops and documents moderately complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
- Designs hardware, software, and interface specifications.
- Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
- Assists in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
- Solves problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
- Research’s specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
