Job Description:
Interlochen Center for the Arts is looking for a journeyman plumber to join a dynamic team and to lead the Maintenance plumbing department. There are over 450 buildings that range from state of the art facilities to seasonal cabins and they all have plumbing & utility maintenance needs. - Performs minor and major repair of plumbing systems for all buildings and equipment.
- Seasonal building Spring opening & Fall Draining of water systems
- Maintain licenses & certifications required to perform maintenance & repairs on Facility systems that include but not limited to Potable water, waste water disposal & boilers & heating plants.
- Responds to typical & emergency work order requests
- After hours emergency response team role, as needed
- Small construction project work
- Potential: Receive Water/Wastewater operating certifications required for operation of ICA systems
- Safety Team member
- Performs other duties as assigned, which can include special projects, minor building maintenance, and misc. work orders.
Required Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 7-10 years of responsible experience in plumbing maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journeyman Plumbing license required.
- Willingness/ability to achieve Master Plumbers license a plus but not required.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public; ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Working knowledge of light and some heavy equipment operation principles, practices and procedures; working knowledge of the hazards and safety (MIOSHA) precautions common to the position
- Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
- Valid driver's license required
