Description
Directs, maintains, and organizes all activities for hospital Plant Operations Department, Security, and Ground Maintenance. Ensures policies, procedures, standards, and services in regards to hospital repairs, housekeeping, preventative maintenance, general maintenance, security, bio-medical services, equipment and utility testing and evaluation are consistent with hospital goals and objectives. Responsible for ensuring that the quality, safety and integrity of these departments are monitored and evaluated. Ensures services, repair and maintenance provided when necessary to insure the safe and efficient operation of the hospital and clinic facilities, and to maintain a comfortable physical environment for patients, employees, medical staff and the public, in accordance with policies, procedures, standards and practices set by the State Department of Public Health and other local community and governmental agencies. Administers construction/renovation projects.
What You Will Do In This Role
Evaluates, develops and implements departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and standards of work performance for the maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems including boilers and other equipment which provides air conditioning , communications, heating, steam, hot water, electricity, sanitation, and medical gases.
Develops, implements and directs a preventive and corrective maintenance program to insure efficient and uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant and all related operating equipment within the facility; plans and coordinates the repair or recommends the replacements of, or additions to, equipment or physical structures as needed.
Plans, develops and participates in a continuing departmental training program and orientation programs in the repair and maintenance of all equipment, including medical equipment; evaluates the effectiveness of the programs and adjusts and modifies course content as necessary.
Provides for an inventory and storage of materials, parts and equipment; provides for material issuance and requisitioning and maintains adequate supply levels.
Responsible for selection and coordination of all maintenance service contractors and for coordinating with Corporate Construction; insures that contractual provisions and Hospital construction schedules are met and satisfy established standards of hospital policy and government regulations and codes; acts as liaison among Hospital Administrators, Engineers and Architects in conjunction with new construction projects.
Supervises and directs assigned staff to include interviewing and hiring new staff, evaluating work performance, counseling, disciplining, and terminating and participating in the adjustment of employee grievances.
Coordinates departmental activities and responsibilities with other Hospital departments and Medical administrative staff.
Develops annual operating budget to include personnel, equipment, materials and supply needs, monitors budget after adoption; develops remodeling budgets in concert with and for the approval of administrators.
What Qualifications You Will Need
Associate Degree or Bachelors degree in Electrical or Plant/Facilities Engineering preferred, or Work experience in lieu of degree. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 1 year of management experience. Requires thorough knowledge and comprehensive experience in rules and regulations governing health care facilities.
