POSITION SUMMARY

Jaunt is seeking a Planning Manager to support and lead the development of its regional paratransit and fixed route services in the Jaunt service area of Albemarle, Buckingham, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson Counties. Jaunt provides services in both urban and rural areas in central Virginia. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and data-driven professional with professional transit experience who will help lead and guide the development of our agency. The position will supervise a transit planner and a GIS Data Analyst and reports to the CEO.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position holder will:

  • Manage and oversee planning and system development activities.
  • Direct the development and execution of projects to improve and expand service, including strategic, financial, and operations planning and analysis.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance and ensure quality customer service to the public, stakeholders and other Jaunt departments.
  • Provide highly responsible and complex management and policy support to the CEO.
  • Provide senior staff with data-driven and evidence-based recommendations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of transit experience with experience in paratransit and operations scheduling desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • AICP certification desirable.
  • Software knowledge: ESRI ArcMap Suite and, Databases desired, and Microsoft Office are required. Knowledge of data analytics tools including Tableau, Talend Open Studio, and JasperSoft Reports, Access, or similar software desired.
  • Understanding of and experience with geospatial and statistical analysis methods required.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, independently or with others, and meet deadlines.
  • Valid Virginia driver's license or ability to obtain one.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screening.

Employment is contingent on a clean driving record that allows employee to be covered by Jaunt's insurance.

Continued employment is contingent upon adherence to Jaunt's Substance Abuse Policy, including drug and alcohol screenings, as well as maintaining a clean driving record.

Further, those employees with direct contact with passengers with disabilities willbe expected to exercise their training for passenger sensitivity, which includessecuring passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairsduring trips. Additionally, being physically able to handle and assist disabledpassengers using wheelchairs and assist disabled passengers into and out of vehicle.
