Seeking full-time, seasonal pipelayer. Work in Minot and surrounding areas, home every night.

Pipe layers at Steen Construction are responsible for the installation of underground utilities such as: water mains, sanitary sewer mains, concrete manholes, concrete catch basins, and associated materials. Perform any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints. Other specific skills required: Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of High School / GED
• Insurable driving status
• General knowledge of the construction industry
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Individual must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to underground operations

Skills and Job Functions:
No Experience required, on the job training.
Pipe layer position includes, but is not limited to:

• Handling and placing pipe used in water and sewer infrastructure in a safe and effective manner
• Setting up and operating grade lasers, including pipe lasers
• Knowledge of pipe materials to include but not limited to: RCP (reinforced concrete pipe), Ductile Iron, PVC, HDPE
• Understanding hand signals and work safely around personnel and heavy equipment operators
• Willing to perform, direct and assist other pipe layer and superintendents
• Operating various equipment to include: walk behind compactors and hand-held power tools
• Performing routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment / tools and report defects or repairs to supervisor
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
• Wearing personal protective equipment as required
• Performing additional construction duties as assigned
• Regularly lifting, pushing, pulling and / or moving 75+ pounds with assistance, and be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds unassisted
• Have working knowledge of and ability to work in confined spaces
• Climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching and / or crawling
