POSITION PURPOSE:

The Advanced Registered Nurses Practitioner is part of the team concept in the agency’s healthcare delivery system, which is devoted to the delivery of medical and psychiatric care as a component of a behavioral healthcare setting with emphasis on prevention and behavioral healthcare maintenance. Under the direction of the Medical Director, the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner performs routine medical and psychiatric services to ensure the clients served needs are being met and assists the Medical Director and medical staff in performing their duties and carrying on the necessary functions required in accordance with established medical and psychiatric policies and procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

1. EDUCATION: A minimum of Master’s Degree

2. EXPERIENCE: At least 3 years’ experience working in a psychiatric or chemical dependency agency.

3. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Licensed in the state in which they are providing services with unrestricted licenses to practice medicine

REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE:

  • Knowledge and expertise to competently provide care in accordance with the applicable standard of practice in a medical field with specialty in psychiatry and substance use
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Working knowledge of DSM 5 criteria
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency and medical field and terminology

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION

1. Perform and complete history and physical and medical/psychiatric follow up to each client within the timeframe stipulated by the agency’s policy and procedure manual and in accordance with State Licensure and Accreditation

2. Assists Medical Director in providing medical protocols
3. Makes recommendations for follow-up services that reflect the findings or risk factors discovered during medical and psychiatric evaluations/follow-up.
4. Ensure clients are referred to specialists when the medical and/or psychiatric needs of a client cannot be met by the medical team.
5. Assists in monitoring and ensuring the delivery of all prescribed medications and of medically necessary pharmaceutical services.
6. Implements and maintains clients right to confidentiality of medical and psychiatric information
7. Communicates effectively with medical team to create a cohesive team
8. Responsible to assess and provide treatment to clients dealing with complex medical issues.
9. Responsible to assist clients in navigating through medical care scenarios that may involve a variety of different doctors and treatment methods as well as understanding complex medical information.
10. Demonstrate proper use of eyewash equipment, fire extinguishers, sharps containers and proper disposal of biohazardous material
11. Measure and record, as necessary, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respirations
12. Perform client medical screenings using agency established protocols
13. Use medical terminology correctly and pronounced accurately to communicate information to community resources, clients and client’s support network
14. Develops and maintains calendar in EMR for client medical and psychiatric appointments
15. Administers MAT injections as required
16. Other duties as assigned
