We are currently recruiting a Phlebotomist to work full-time hours in our Chester County OB/GYN care center.

Chester County Obstetrics and Gynecology, a care center of Axia Women’s Health, has been a proud supporter of the local community for over 40 years. We are the largest OB/GYN practice in the area, with a philosophy centered on caring for the whole woman, attending to her physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs. We provide a full range of obstetric and gynecologic care including prenatal care and pregnancy classes, infertility evaluation and treatment, minimally invasive surgery, and osteoporosis evaluation and management. We welcome women of all ages and stages of life and strive to provide up-to-date medical care with skill and compassion.

The Phlebotomist professionally engages Axia Women’s Health patients by assisting with drawing blood, injections, recording critical patient information, and providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services per the guidance of Axia Women’s Health patient protocol and Care Center’s Senior Physicians.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Patient Care:

• Maintain patient records by accurately recording medical history, vital statistics, etc., and scanning related documents.
• Checking schedules and organizing patient flow to help minimize wait time and efficiently communicates delays to patients.
• Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room and assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens and preparing for exam.
• Collecting patient history and assisting Provider with various procedures and screenings.
• Relaying instructions to patients/families and providing pertinent information.

Patient Records:

• Sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/X-ray reports and hospital notes to provide Provider with complete patient history
• Completing forms/requisitions as needed to ensure patient records are accurate and claims can be properly billed.
• Adheres to Patient Confidentiality Policies and HIPAA regulations.

Quality Control and OSHA:

• Setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocols, cleaning procedure rooms and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control, maintaining and cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program, and restocking exam/procedure rooms.
• Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and standardized quality control methods to provide the highest quality of patient care.

Qualified candidates will have:

• A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine blood and urine tests.
• Current national certification in Phlebotomy
• A minimum of 2 years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of internship completed in a medical office, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with laboratory staff.
• eClinical Works experience is a strong plus.
• OB/GYN experience strongly preferred.
• Successful ability to work with teams across the business to maximize the impact of the overall business effort
• Skill in labeling and maintaining all materials for collection.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing as well as to follow written protocols.
• Ability to work independently.
