Philanthropy Director
St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County (SVdP) is a diverse and dynamic organization looking to add to our Community Engagement (CE) team. This integral role would be leading the community engagement team, specifically with fundraising initiatives. This team is often the “face” of the organization in terms of our community facing activities. The CE team oversees and executes tasks related to fundraising, grant writing, event planning, marketing, public relations, social media and volunteerism. As such, each member wears different hats at times and the constantly shifting needs of the organization require the community engagement team to be creative, results driven and open-minded.
Someone in this role would be high functioning, innovative and work well under pressure. This role would lead the team of five professionals in planning and managing all agency fundraising, event planning, and engagement activities. The right candidate would have experience developing and executing strategies to increase philanthropic giving.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Philanthropy Director provides first level support to the team ensuring consistent and efficient execution of the many tasks performed.
Fundraising (60%):
· Create and oversee a fund development plan.
· Responsible for donor stewardship, donor cultivation, grant writing and sponsorships.
· Lead all fundraising activities, events and endeavors.
· Responsible for database accuracy and up to date information.
Community Relations and Outreach (40%):
· Supervise community relations activities and initiatives.
· Directly supervise and provide leadership and support to the Community Engagement team, including volunteer activities relating to community engagement activities/events.
· Undertake any secondary tasking and responsibilities deemed necessary for a robust Community Engagement program.
· Support activities of the Communications & Marketing team.
· Oversee community engagement events internally and externally.
· Develop and maintain effective relationships with base and community agencies.
· Ensure effective overall administration and sound fiscal management of program goals and objectives.
· Other Duties as assigned to support the needs of the department and organization.
Requirements
Experience and Capabilities:
· 3-5 years fundraising/outreach/event planning experience with increasing responsibility.
· Leadership and supervisor experience, especially in team management.
· Obtain financial support from individuals and organizations, and manage fundraising events.
- Manage fundraising and special events for individual and community donations.
- Maintain and cultivate relationships with existing sponsors.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director on strategic planning and establishing fundraising plans
- Experience managing and tracking donor contributions and organizing gathered data.
- Knowledge and understanding of grant reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of strategic and financial planning, and oversee the development of alternative income streams.
- Excellent ability to work as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal writing and public speaking skills.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as required to meet community needs.
- Significant experience and knowledge working with Microsoft Office Suite. Office365 (preferred).
- Experience working with DonorPerfect or other donor databases (preferred).
