HCA Solutions is currently looking for qualified Pharmacy Technicians to work at US Department of Veterans Affairs at
4136 Carolina Commerce Parkway, Ladson, SC 29456 These are contracted full time positions, expected start date is 04/01/2023 and end 03/31/2024, with a possibility of extension up to 5 years, total.
Description of Duties
- Ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications while demonstrating knowledge of the budgetary guidelines and Formulary constraints.
- Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintaining stock of up-to-date medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the main pharmacy, satellite camp, both crash carts, emergency bags and Automated Dispensing Systems.
- Maintaining stock of forms as needed and updating Pill Line/Restricted Medication Administration records for inmates as well as filing Medication Administration Record’s into the Medical Record.
- Will prepare unit dose or pre-packaged medications.
- Complete and maintain competency as indicated by ability to complete the Pharmacy Competency Module while maintaining knowledge of Formulary and any changes to this document.
- Maintain the narcotics count along with the needle and syringe inventories.
- Maintain and re-stock adequate supplies for the Pyxis machine, and perform audits of Pyxis machine.
- Possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
- Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the BOP Pharmacist or HSA.
- Perform minor clerical duties; such as use of electronic medical record, computer documentation and scheduling, scanning documents, filing, typing, call-outs, institutional memorandums, answering phones, scheduling patients and maintaining stock records.
- Certified Technicians (CPhT) Valid Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT
- Non-certified technicians must have 6 months experience (unless otherwise authorized by the respective CMOP) in retail or hospital pharmacy setting or be a graduate of an Academic Technician Training Educational Program. Not all pharmacy technicians will be required to be certified or registered. Certification is highly encouraged as several processes and certain equipment will require certified technicians.
- High School diploma/GED
- Interpersonal communication skills
- Basic typing, computer, and MS Office
- Read, write, speak and understand English
- Lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 150 pounds on a rolling cart, sit/stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours)
- Lifting totes up to 30 pounds repetitively
- Understand the precautions required when handling hazardous materials and hazardous waste
- Proof of all vaccinations, including COVID-19
- 2-Step TB Screening, within the last year
- CPR/BLS
