NEEDED: PHARMACIST
LOCATION: 8500 Doniphan, Anthony, TX 79821
HOURS: Full-Time & PRN
- Part-Time: 8 hours per day, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, excluding holidays, not to exceed 24 hours per week
- Full-Time: 80 hours per day, Monday – Friday, not to exceed 40 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a degree in Pharmacy
- Must be licensed as a pharmacist by the state of Texas
- Shall have the ability to fluently speak, understand, read, and legibly write English
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reading and interpreting prescriptions and medication orders written by medical staff,
- Selection and retrieval of medications of correct strength and dosage from prescribed,
- Transcribing prescription data to labels using typewriters or computer systems,
- Preparing prescriptions for verification and dispensing,
- Entering prescriptions into the pharmacy’s prescription computer system and printing prescription labels,
- Selecting the correct medication and filling the prescriptions,
- Maintaining adequate inventories of all medications and pharmacy supplies and preparing the proper paperwork for replenishment of inventory, as well as maintaining an expiration date log to ensure that no outdated or expired stock remains in the inventory,
- Interacting with inmates regarding their medications and providing patient education literature about the medication,
- Ensuring the only medications listed in the approved BOP
- Formulary are dispensed and will ensure that request for Non-Formulary medications are initiated and submitted for approval,
- Maintaining the pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion, maintain stock of appropriate forms utilized in the pharmacy department,
- Preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications for the Pyxis system and any other “night stock” dispensing needs,
- Possesses a working knowledge and maintain sufficient technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues,
- Reviewing prescriptions prepared by support staff (pharmacy technician) to ensure they are error free,
- Utilizing cost effective medication management,
- Adhering to any duties assigned by the Health Service Administrator or Chief Pharmacist that fall within the scope of duties for a local community pharmacist,
- Adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations during the performance of above duties,
