Job Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced PCU Float Registered Nurse to join our team on a 13 week RENEWABLE contract basis at our hospital in Randallstown, Maryland. As a PCU Float RN, you will provide high-quality care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit, with the opportunity to float to other units as needed. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and managing various medical conditions. ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications are required. Minimum of 2 years of experience is also required. Accepts 1st time travelers.

Qualifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
• BSN degree or higher from an accredited nursing program
• Minimum of 1-2 years of RN experience, with Progressive Care Unit experience preferred
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications required
• Strong clinical skills including cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management, IV insulin protocols, and blood product administration
• Proficiency with electronic medical records
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to float to other units as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care in the Progressive Care Unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Float to other units as needed and provide nursing care
• Develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
• Collaborate with healthcare team members for coordinated and comprehensive patient care
• Educate patients and families about conditions and care plans
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for improved patient outcomes and overall care quality
• Adhere to facility guidelines for COVID-19 and flu vaccinations

Special Procedures/Unit Details:

• Patient ratios typically 4-5 based on patient acuity
• Specialized skills including cardiac telemetry, management of dysrhythmias, rapid response team utilization, central line care/management, and more
• Nurse-to-patient ratio may be 1:5 based on acuity and downgrades
• Peritoneal Dialysis, Telemetry interpretation and documentation, Non-titratable Drips management, Heparin drip nursing protocol, Code Team Responders (recorders & time keepers), Stroke certified unit
• If floated to non-tele med-surg unit, patient ratio may be 1:6
