The Payroll Team Manager will be a “client-side” resource in charge of processing payroll, improving and streamlining workflows by leveraging HCM technology, and ensuring backup/contingency plans are in place.

We’re looking for candidates with extensive experience in one or more of the following systems: Paylocity, ADP WFN, Paycor, Paycom, Paychex, UKG

***This is a fully remote role but we are looking for someone in the Pacific time zone to work with clients on the West Coast.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and lead consultants to ensure extremely successful client partnerships
  • Collaborate with executive leadership team
  • Manage direct reports and support professional development
  • Listen openly and attentively to fully understand ideas and opinions within the team
  • Formulate clear objectives, strategies and work assignments
  • Monitor, interpret, and initiate action for productivity key performance indicator
  • Prepare and process payroll for multiple clients
  • Produce accurate and timely payrolls, for multi-locations (states) based on state and federal regulations and company policies
  • Analyze payroll results and other Human Resources reports to answer complex questions and recommend courses of action while exercising independent judgment and discretion
  • Process employee garnishments
  • Reconcile federal, state, and local payroll tax deposits and returns
  • Accurately track and reconcile Paid Time Off
  • Coordinate payroll general ledger processing with accounting
  • Prepare Time and Labor files
  • Input employee changes and new hires: terminations, I9 & W-4s, and banking information, etc.
  • Provide service support to employees, other departments, and management

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Expert knowledge of either Paylocity, Paycor, ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, Paycom or UKG
  • At least 5 years’ experience processing payroll
  • Knowledge of California payroll rules and certified payroll/prevailing wage rule is strongly desired.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently, conduct research, formulate conclusions, and recommend management policies and operating practices regarding complex business issues of substantial significance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to consult and interface with varying levels of management by leveraging expertise in subject matter and applying influential skills.
  • CPP certification a plus
