Job Description
Summary:
The Payload Rack Officer (PRO) provides real-time, front room support for timeline execution, configuration, and troubleshooting of the on-board payload facility racks and platforms, as well as commanding interface for payloads. Assignments tend to be of moderate complexity, diversification, or expense. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goals outlined. Normally receives instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Responsible for managing the operations of the ISS onboard payload facility racks to support payload operations, as well as the onboard resources that are required for payloads to operate within these racks.
- Responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the ISS onboard electrical, thermal, power, and command systems that are configured, monitored, and managed to support real-time science payload operations.
- PRO team supports real-time operations seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 0-2 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of ISS ops a plus.
