Coordinator, Patient Services- Vascular Access & Procedures
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate for the Patient Services Coordinator position in the Vascular Access and Procedures department will have excellent customer services skills in a healthcare/hospital environment. Medical software is highly preferred.
Patient Interaction and Work Environment
Greets, orients and answers questions.
Advises patients and family members of available services.
Schedule patient visits, physician appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments.
Directs and coordinates the work of all clerks in the work group. Coordinates daily work assignments and supervises all clerical personnel.
Trains coaches, counsel's clerical personnel in the department. Assists with the recruitment and evaluations of clerical personnel in the department. Develops educational plans for all clerical staff, schedules training for the staff and monitors attendance. Addresses staff performance issues with Patient Care Nurse Manager and complete a Performance Improvement Plan for review with the Patient Care Nurse Manager.
Assists in projects and operational planning. Assists in organizing the physical layout of the unit to improve efficiency of the work group. Offers suggestions on how to improve operational effectiveness of the work group.

Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and visitors.
Communication with Patients and Interprofessional Team Members a. Transcribe and coordinate physician orders.
Communicates pertinent information regarding appointments, scheduling, and necessary preparations to patients, families, physicians, team members and other patient care areas.
Analyzes and resolves problems.
Record Maintenance and Financial Activities Record Maintenance
Prepares and maintains appointment templates and/or patient records electronically and/or manually as directed.
Updates relevant patient information in order to maintain an accurate patient record.
Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Handles and processes a complex and varied series of documents and situations.
Prepares complex reports and maintains complicated records. Learns complex activities and procedures and applies them to the work setting.
Financial Activities
Reviews and reconciles patient charge documents in accordance with established departmental processes. Enters technical charges as needed.

Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Required: Three years of relevant work experience. May substitute additional education for required experience on a one to one basis.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
