PATIENT CARE TECH - MATERNITY CENTER Job at Johnson Memorial Hospital
SCHEDULE: 6:00pm to 6:30am and every other weekend, 72 hours per pay period
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with admission process by taking initial vital signs, measurements and weights, orienting patient/family to unit, hospital facilities and services, and documenting on appropriate forms per unit standards and admission of patient into current computer system.
Delivers patient care promptly, accurately and according to unit standards, policies and procedures, as well as patient’s plan of care. Contributes relevant and appropriate information to RN. Maintains confidentiality of patient related issues. Supports the Standards of Service and Hospital Mission and Values.
Assists physician and/or nurse with procedures such as, but not limited to, pelvic examination, amniotomy, amnioinfusion, amniocentesis, scalp electrode, inter uterine catheter, labor care, epidural anesthesia, post-delivery or surgery recovery care, non-stress testing, newborn identification procedures, circumcisions, and nasal-pharyngeal suction/bulb.
Performs simple procedures such as urinary catheterization, removal of urinary catheter and discontinuance of IV catheter upon direction of nurse.
Monitors and accurately records patient intake and output. Reports changes in patient’s status (e.g., changes in vital signs, level of consciousness, weight, mobility status, comfort level, feeding pattern or any unusual occurrences) to RN in a timely manner.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Nursing Assistant or equivalent on-the-job training for a minimum of three months required. CPR and NRP certification / annual recertification required. NRP completed within one year of hire.
