Job Summary:

St. Croix Health is seeking a 0.5-FTE (20 hours a week). This position is responsible for serving a critical role providing patients and their families and other visitors with their first-encounter experience while ensuring appropriate safety protocols are followed for the benefit of both our visitors and staff. The role is multi-faceted to allow flexibility where needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greets and performs initial screening function for patients, family members, and other facility patrons

• Offers and provides physical assistance to patients navigating from vehicles in to the facility
• Screens patients in accordance with SCRMC protocol; ensures patients and visitors are following appropriate safety precautions upon entering the facility
• Monitors for concerning and suspicious activity at entrances, follows protocol for informing/alerting appropriate personnel of identified issues

2. Provides patients, family members, and visitors with information and navigation guidance in support of safe and efficient movement to designated organization destination(s).

• Ascertain guest’s needs. Take appropriate action or provide appropriate information, direction, transporting and escorting as requested and according to established policies and procedures
• Maintains basic knowledge and understanding of workings of the organization in order to assist guests with questions and provide accurate guidance
• Assists patients and family members with safe navigation to their designated destination
• Provides support/comfort to patients and families demonstrating care and diversity sensitivity.
• Communicates with other members of the patient/visitor support team when needed to provide warm transition/hand-off

3. Provides support to internal non-patient focused operational needs.

• Transport equipment and supplies by picking up and dropping off equipment, orders, lab specimens, etc.
• Maintains data log and/or collects/enters data in coordination with patient navigation/safety functions.

4. Minor Responsibilities

• Maintaining clean interior and exterior entrance areas
• Provides back-up support to Security, Patient Access, and other relevant functions as needed

Education & Licensure:

• High-school graduate
• Valid State issued Driver’s License

Experience:

• Customer service, and;
• Security, law enforcement; or
• Patient navigation, registration; or,
• Other similar role in a healthcare setting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Safe driving skills

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
