Description:

The Patient Advocate serves as the liaison and change agent between patients and the organization in their expressions of commendation or concern so that moral, ethical, operational, and care standards are upheld on behalf of EBNHC patients, families, visitors and/or staff. Provides prompt and appropriate investigation and response to patients, families, and/or significant others who have concerns or questions, including the review, referral and resolution of complaints. Serves as a resource to staff for patient rights, advanced directives, problem resolution, and patient advocacy. Full Time position, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, but may require flexibility.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience) preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work or Psychology preferred.

Experience

  • At least 2-3 years customer service experience; experience in patient advocacy or social work preferred

Skills/Abilities

  • Requires well-developed interpersonal relationship and communications skills to instill confidence and to advocate for patients and their family.
  • Patient-oriented demeanor that depicts concern and caring attitude towards all.
  • Requires basic knowledge of change theories and organizational development
  • Bilingual skills appropriate to the patient population served, are required
  • Excellent listening skills, ability to diagnose problems, resolve conflict, and develop practical solutions.
