The Role

The Events Partner will manage events and experiences for the a16z Growth team. The events team plays a critical role on the marketing team in crafting memorable and engaging experiences that drive powerful and lasting connections among our portfolio companies and our broader network.

This role is responsible for bringing the a16z Growth brand to life, with the goal of maintaining and building the team’s network and key relationships. They will work closely with the investment and marketing teams as a strategic events partner and collaborator to thoughtfully plan and execute experiences reflective of the Andreessen Horowitz brand and culture.

  • Deliver memorable, in-person and virtual events of all sizes and scale for our broader network and portfolio, with a focus on smaller, bespoke experiences. This is inclusive of everything from dinners, unique experiences, conference add-ons, cross-firm networking receptions, and content-driven events.
  • Work with senior executives, portfolio founders, and various external speakers, including industry leaders, regulatory experts, and prominent public individuals, to plan and execute events.
  • Determine outreach priorities and manage on-site logistics and staffing in line with the a16z Growth brand and goals.
  • Provide support and guidance to creative teams for event marketing collateral and premium branded goods.
  • Own systems management and reporting for team dashboards and platforms. Conduct regular reporting of engagement activities; produce post-event analysis, budget evaluations, and participant feedback for internal partners; incorporate lessons learned into future plans.
  • Own operational logistics for events; source and manage relevant external venues and vendors as needed for both in-person and virtual event production.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years experience producing events in a fast-paced environment, preferably within the technology ecosystem.
  • Proven track record of leading high-caliber, memorable branded experiences while staying on budget.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate in cross-functional team event execution from idea through execution and post-production analysis.
  • Experience working closely with editorial and communications teams as part of coordinated marketing efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve last minute needs in fast-paced, high-visibility situations
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; an eye for detail and an appreciation for nuance.
  • Experience and familiarity with event production and CRM tools such as: Zoom Webinar, Salesforce, Marketo, Qualtrics, Wordpress and other similar tools.
  • Comfort, desire, and confidence with regular business travel and site visits.

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $225,000-$262,500, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z Carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
