Under the direct supervision of the Event Technical Coordinator, the ITS Events Technician is responsible for assisting the Event Technical Coordinator in providing audio systems operation and advanced media support for Events.

Essential Functions

  • Understand and demonstrate the core expectations and service standards of the ITS Department while utilizing the tools required of the position.

  • Responsible for the setup of basic sound systems and video projectors.

  • Responsible for the setup, tear-down, and smooth operation of all events in both Torrey-Gray and Dryer Auditorium including chapels and recitals.

  • Responsible for working with customers in a professional and friendly manner to determine event needs and respond accordingly.

  • Responsible for mixing and recording of audio for events.

  • Responsible to operate the light board and be able to set light levels on the stage.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting audio-visual issues on-site while events are in progress

  • Perform related and special duties as assigned

  • Participate in a continuous, multi-level training program. The purpose of this program is to enable employees to advance in the knowledge and skills required of the position

  • Performs related and special duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with sound boards and live-sound mixing is required (experience with digital audio mixers and systems is a plus).

  • Must be able to work in a performance-based environment where productivity is measured.

  • Must be a self-motivated individual who works well with others and on their own with excellent technical and customer service skills.

  • Must have a basic understanding of audio or video processes and equipment.

  • Must have a basic understanding of graphics display programs (Power Point, ProPresenter, etc)

  • Must have proficiency in running Zoom and virtual meetings platforms

  • Ability to successfully negotiate conflicting interests.

  • Must be able to successfully complete ITS initial and subsequent training courses including evaluation period.

Preferred Requirements

  • Should have a “musical” ear and be able to mix bands with multiple instruments and vocalists.

  • Experience in video production and/or camera operation

  • Experience in stage lighting and lighting design

  • First and second year students preferred

Work Environment/Conditions

  • Work conditions vary, depending on location of events. All of the following conditions may be encountered:

    • Standard and professional office environment

    • Auditoriums (large and small)

    • Conference and meeting rooms

    • Field work/offsite (varies)

    • Occasional work outdoors

  • Work equipment utilized the following:

    • Multifunction Devices (Fax, Copy, Scan)

    • Phone

    • Computer

    • Audio mixing and processing equipment

    • Audio/video cabling, instruments, and staging

    • Video routing and projection equipment

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Standing - 60%

    • Sitting – 40%

    • Bending

    • Lifting up to 50 lbs

    • Typing
