Part-time Grounds Laborer Job at Professional Contract Services, Inc.
PCSI is looking for a Part-tiome Grounds Laborer at its Detroit Arsenal Site! We are searching for a motivated, friendly team member to perform groundskeeper and maintenance duties. The right person will have a proactive attitude and takes pride in their accomplishments. This position will report to the Grounds Supervisor and is based at Detroit Arsenal in Warren, MI. Shift: 7:30 am –12 noon Monday – Friday, some saturdays (alternate schedule) – flexible schedule with snow

What You'll Do as a Grounds Laborer:
- Maintains grass with zero-turn lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers, and various hand tools
- Utilizes power and hand tools to perform various landscaping activities, such as digging, moving, filling, and leveling earth, river rock, and other fill material; places sod and grass seed; cleans ditches, culverts, & storm drains; removes / places mulch; picks up trash, leaves, and other debris
- Plants, trims, and removes trees, shrubs, and bushes using chains saws, hedge trimmers, and other power and hand tools
- Installs, maintains, and repairs, and replaces signposts, signs, parking blocks, and fencing
- Spreads salt on icy roads & walkways by hand, manual spreader, and box spreaders, removes snow with shovels, utility vehicles, Polar Tracs, and plow trucks
- Performs operator maintenance on all tools and equipment used
- Can be placed on-call for after-hours emergency response
- Performs all related duties as assigned and responsibilities as required and assigned
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; pesticide / herbicide licenses desirable but not required
- Ability to work any time of the day and any day of the week in all weather conditions utilizing appropriate safety precautions and procedures; must be able to lift 50 lbs.; however, accommodations are available
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have twelve (12) months of recent / relevant Grounds Laborer experience
- Zero-turn mower operation
- Commercial snow plow experience
- Mechanical equipment repair experience is a plus
Other Requirements:
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background check, & motor vehicle report
- Maintain security clearance, including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation
- Maintain valid State of Michigan driver’s license and remain insurable to operate Company vehicles
- Able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language
