The Clinical Content Medical Librarian (CCML) participates in the InterQual® internal surveillance alerting system processes of writing alerts to be used in PubMed and/or web crawlers. Receiving alert results from Feedly, EBM alert application; analyzing the alert results in the context of relevant IQ clinical content and making recommendations to change clinical content criteria and/or citations. Developing and performing deep-dive search strategies for clinical content updates and new subsets. Providing clinically relevant education and training programs to the department, and making recommendations for the selection and use of knowledge management tools and processes. The CCML learns selected IQ content and can compare search results to content and triage the next steps, including the need for clinical content criteria changes to assure content matches the most current evidence. The CCML role is intended to evolve into providing guidance and tools to assure an integrated and scalable knowledge management system.

Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in the creation of subset-specific deep-dive search strategies with clinical staff, or create these search strategies as a service to clinical staff
Collaborate with clinical content developers and evidence-based medicine subject matter expert (SME) to define evidence-alert search strategies based on specialty society-based clinical practice guidelines and other high-impact sources of medical evidence
Define deep-dive search strategies based on team requirements for content updates. Create and manage a central repository for search strategies and search strategy results, including archival and retention policies
Develop knowledge of InterQual content for the majority of high-profile subsets
Screen alert results in Feedly and determine if there is a difference between new literature and existing content, triage results and make recommendations for changes to clinical content criteria and/or citations
Collaborate with medical directors, clinical leadership, and clinical staff to assure appropriate actions are taken based on alert results analysis
Assist in the development of an automated, interactive and communicative model for clinical staff (CM/CL/MD/CCDs) to assure smooth workflow, dissemination of search strategy results, and triaging of results to determine the impact to content

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor in Library Science with 3+ years, focus on Research, Clinical Practice, and/or Medical Informatics preferred
1+ years of experience in a clinical setting or equivalent
Knowledge of health care industry, utilization/case management, and/or managed care industry helpful
Preferred Qualifications:
Writing experience
Research and Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) knowledge or experience
Demonstrated proficiency with various software applications, including but not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, SharePoint
Demonstrated competence in medical literature searching
Proven solid verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to step through logical pathways
Proven results oriented, effective as both a team member and independent worker with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
