The purpose of this classification is to provide security and customer service for park visitors , and perform general maintenance and upkeep of park facilities .

This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.

Essential Functions:

Provides customer service to the public; greets and offers information to visitors; and fosters public relations between the department and the public .

Protect s park patrons, staff and property; assist s in maintaining peace and order on park property; de- escalates and resolve s conflicts; carr ies out enforcement through use of verbal warnings ; and e nforce s DeKalb County’s park ordinances, rules and regulations .

Patrol s assigned parks and recreation areas to deter criminal activity, prevent crime and provide building security ; and promote s safe parks, programs and facilities.

Patrols on foot and bicycle and o perates equipment and motor vehicles including light trucks and ATVs.

Respond s to emergency situations by , provid ing first aid and emergency assistance and request s appropriate medical assistance when necessary. Clears trails, lock s restrooms and secur e s facilities after hours .

Collects trash from park areas as needed ; and inspects all areas for cleanliness and safety.

Perform s administrative work including but not limited to preparing daily reports summarizing incidences; answer ing telephones, typ ing and filing ; and notif ying violation of pa rk s rules to proper departments .

Attend s and actively participate s in community an d staff meetings and trainings.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license .
