General Statement of Job:
Under general supervision, enforces park regulations and policies to ensure a safe, but enjoyable visitor experience; provides information to visitors about the park’s recreational resources, cultural and natural history of the park; performs structural and grounds maintenance/repair work, and all related work as required. Reports to Park Superintendent.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide courteous, high quality service to variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds; function calmly in adverse situations, which may require a high degree of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.
Patrol the park to enforce rules and regulations, and to safeguard and preserve park facilities.
Perform custodial and housekeeping activities of all park facilities to ensure the attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety of the park to meet and exceed established standards.
Perform regular park walk-throughs to identify areas needing maintenance or repair; initiate measures to correct or control environmental hazards or conditions.
Conduct environmental inventory of park to detect fire hazards, plant diseases, insect infestations, etc.; assist with resource stewardship efforts, including citizen science programs, maintenance of wildlife habitat structures; invasive species identification and control, species inventories and counts, wildlife conflict issues, etc.
Prepare and set-up rental facilities for all events, check-in customers and overnight guests; remain on property to attend to customer needs; secure buildings and park upon completion of events.
Prepare reports and keep records related to equipment and building maintenance, Splash Pad chemical levels and readings, incident and/or department reports.
Perform basic arithmetic in collecting fees, making change, and reconciling funds; complete all related documentation; secure funds.
Ability to operate a variety of small and large engine equipment; various hand and power tools, tractor, backhoe, Cushman cart, and other similar equipment.
Evaluates the needs for equipment, supplies and materials; reports funding to Park Superintendent.
Ability to read, understand and interpret written procedures and directions.
Requires extensive walking, climbing, standing, squatting, crawling, repetitive use of hands, including power grasping and fine manipulation, and reaching above shoulder level. May be subject to exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity or wetness, dust, gas or fumes, and require the use of special visual or auditory protective equipment.
Must be available to work evenings, weekdays and weekends, as well as some holidays, on rotating and on-call basis.

Exercise appropriate judgment in answering questions and releasing information; analyze and project consequences of decisions and/or recommendations.
Minimum Training and Experience
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year general maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An understanding of the principles and practices involved in protecting and maintaining park natural areas and/or natural resource management is desired. Must possess a valid S.C. driver’s license. Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 6 months of start of employment.

Pay: $12.98 - $13.30 per hour
