FUNCTION:
To assist the classroom teacher and/or MTSS Lead to support literacy (reading and writing) and math interventions and instruction. The Paraprofessional HQ - Title functions in accordance with District approved policies, rules, regulations, and performance standards of the District/State for the position. The Paraprofessional HQ - Title addresses the needs of students; providing a safe environment and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student health concerns. The Paraprofessional HQ - Title maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are examples of primary duties; but may not cover all duties an employee is expected to perform.
- Under the classroom teacher’s direction, Title I Specialist and Title I Supervisor assist students with instructional material.
- Under the direction of the classroom teacher, Title I Specialist, and Title I Supervisor, work with small groups of students to reinforce students’ classroom program.
- Perform organizational and clerical tasks as assigned.
- Communicate clearly and make independent decisions within established policies and procedures.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assist other school staff and administration in enforcing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct and assist in schools’ plans for positive behavior support.
- Supervise students throughout the school day to ensure students are acting safely, respectfully, and responsibly.
- When required, attend and participate in staff meetings and district in-service meetings.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
- Model respect with an awareness of diversity and equity.
- Effectively work with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

- High school diploma/equivalent.
- Hold a college degree or two years of full-time college or a passing grade on the paraprofessional exam.
- Ability to organize, follow directions, and learn new procedures.
- Ability to provide care for students’ physical needs.
- Clerical skills (Typing, filing, computer knowledge preferred).
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations.
- Perform duties in a courteous and efficient manner that builds the confidence of staff, students, and the public.
- Maintain regular attendance at work, and is punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings/training, and following schedule.
- Observe laws, district policies and procedures, and professional standards for this position.
- Respect confidential information and the privacy of students, staff, and parents.
- Maintain personal appearance and hygiene appropriate to the position as defined by the district.
- Successful completion of Oregon School-based fingerprinting and criminal history verification as deemed by State of Oregon legislation.
- Adhere to District COVID requirements.

- Work may occasionally involve lifting/carrying objects weighing 15-25 pounds.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student injury or illness.
- Exposure to a variety of chemicals comprising instructional and cleaning materials.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

- This position is primarily performed indoors in school buildings, although some outdoor instruction and supervision may be required.
- This position involves working in close proximity to students and adults in groups and on a one-on-one basis.
SCHEDULE:
6.5 hours a day (32.5 hours per week)
