New York Life is looking for a junior level paralegal to join its mutual fund disclosure team. This is an exciting opportunity to grow in a firm with a history of financial strength and dynamic innovation. The paralegal will work collaboratively with others in the Office of the General Counsel Investments Group to perform the duties listed below.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in preparation, filing and distribution of mutual fund registration statements (prospectuses, summary prospectuses, statements of additional information) as part of their annual updates and work on other periodic mutual funds filings.
  • Assist attorneys in drafting and revising legal memos, corporate governance documents and contracts
  • Assist attorneys in preparation and distribution of mutual fund proxy materials
  • Prepare for and attend shareholder meetings and draft minutes
  • Input, review and manage disclosure content in an automated content management system
  • Draft and maintain timelines, project plans and facilitate disclosure-related processes
  • Interact with various business departments and attend meetings on behalf of the Office of the General Counsel


Required:

  • BA or BS (or paralegal certificate)
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel and Adobe
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively and concisely. Attention to detail a must
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on a timely basis
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with other business departments
  • Experience with content and document management system a plus
  • Experience with the SEC’s EDGAR system a plus


Salary range:
$55,000-$85,000

Overtime eligible: Nonexempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No
